In line with its 50th anniversary celebrations, Benihana at three of Rotana’s hotels in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will feature a host of promotions for its guests, all in the spirit of giving back for their support over these golden years. The campaign running from the 1st to the 30th of November is titled “Celebrating Generations of Culinary Art” and will throw the spotlight on the cuisine offered at Benihana.
The iconic restaurants at Al Bustan Rotana and Amwaj Rotana in Dubai as well as the hotel group’s flagship, Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, will offer a special Golden Anniversary platter consisting of four classic dishes that have remained unchanged over the 50 years along with the Golden Nugget, which is a special edition sushi, created exclusively for the occasion.
Every order of the anniversary platter, priced at only AED 50, will also stand guests a chance to qualify for the Golden Draw at each hotel to win a five-night stay at the
5-star Salalah Rotana Resort in Oman while groups of 5 guests or more will enjoy the platter on complimentary basis, when dining.
Commenting on the special occasion, James Wierzelewski, Rotana’s Corporate Vice President for Food and Beverage Operations, says “Benihana is an important partner for us and to mark their special occasion, we have fashioned a commemorative dish”, adding that the hotels will also run several offers to express their appreciation to loyal guests, such as the opportunity to win complimentary meals and a “Happy 50-minute” offer on selected Japanese beverages daily.
As part of the campaign’s line-up, the Benigirls, an urban dance troupe assembled especially for this occasion, will be flown in from New York for a series of performances in Dubai at the Amwaj Rotana and Al Bustan Rotana between the 16th to the 23rd of November.
Benihana was founded by Japanese-born Rocky H. Aoki in 1964 with the opening of its first restaurant in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Benihana pioneered the communal dining concept which came about in the early 1960s where up to eight people are seated around a steel hibachi grill to dine while watching a personal show. Its concept is based on highly skilled chefs who will provide entertainment while preparing their meal in traditional Japanese cooking using American favourites such as steak, chicken, seafood and vegetables.
The restaurant soon became famous with its theatrical chefs and traditional Japanese architecture. The interior structure of the restaurant was a 150-year old Japanese barn, which Rocky’s father found in the countryside of Japan.
Benihana has grown to become one of the leading Asian-themed restaurants chains in the world with its corporate headquarters now located in Miami, Florida. To date, Benihana owns 64 teppanyaki restaurants and franchises 15 others domestically and internationally. It also holds the record for longest running dinner show in the world.
