The city’s food and entertainment lovers were wowed by Taste of Dubai’s big opening night as thousands turned out to meet their favourite celebrity chefs and savour treats from Dubai’s most popular restaurants.

Visitors of all ages attended the premiere of the eighth edition of the world’s favourite al fresco food, drink, and music festival, taking place this weekend at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.

Hungry guests were treated to a tasty experience, as the world’s best chefs served up a culinary showdown, whilst crowds rocked to the sounds of the Bon Jovi Tribute Band.

Food aficionados took part in the cookery school, where celebrity chefs Jean Christophe Novelli, Jose Pizarro, Dhruv Baker, Andy Bates, Luke Thomas, and Emirati baking sensation Bader Al Awadhi led mouth-watering cooking sessions.

‘Taste of Dubai’s opening night has been fun, fast-paced and full of flavour!’ said Chef Andy Bates. ‘It’s great to be in the company of so many top chefs from around the globe and see them in action. A real highlight of the evening for me was teaching a session in the cookery school, the students were amazing and made some great dishes.’

The day heated up with further appearances by Michelin Star Chef Atul Kochhar and Master Chef winner Tim Anderson, who took part in the Chef’s theatre, showcasing the best of their culinary skills in front of the enthusiastic public.

“We wanted to open bigger and better than ever, and I think we’ve succeeded,” said Chris Fountain, Managing Director of event organisers Turret Media.

“Yesterday worked as an appetiser to the flavourful feast that Taste of Dubai has in line for the weekend,” he added.

The night got to its climax with the electric tunes of Bon Jovi, providing the soundtrack to the festival’s first ever ‘Ladies Evening’, which proved to be a flying success amongst Dubai’s female crowds, who sang and danced to the band’s most loved beats.

Taste of Dubai runs until tomorrow at the Media City amphitheatre. The festival will be open from midday – 12am on Friday and midday – 11pm on Saturday.

Tickets are still available from just AED 90. For more information, and online tickets visit: www.tasteofdubaifestival.com
