Peppermill, the colonial Indian dining restaurant, is celebrating authentic biryanis from India through a two-week long festival in all its outlets across the UAE this March. The Biryani Festival at Peppermill will present a delectable menu of over 8 specially chosen biryanis to satiate every palate. These can all be savored at the Biryani Festival starting 19th March up until 31st March 2015 across all Peppermill outlets.
Nothing unites biryani lovers as much as a well garnished biryani in its authenticity. Historically, the most common method to prepare biryani was using basmati rice and several exotic spices and condiments such as nutmeg, mace, cardamom, and saffron. However, in the present day biryanis are prepared in many ways. They can be roasted on a sighri, fried in a tawa or steamed in covered earthen pot dum style making them the most palatable biryanis giving total gastronomic satisfaction. To allow the biryani to be cooked in its own steam, the pot is usually sealed with wheat dough and not opened till ready to serve. A boiled egg and mixed salad often accompanies the dish.
During this festival, Peppermill Chef Dilip Johri will be laying out scrumptious varieties of Indian delectable biryanis like the Calcutta Biryani which is cooked in kewra and rose water along with saffron. The Shrimp and Prawn Biryani is another excellent preparation with seafood marinated in yoghurt, ginger and garlic paste. The Bombay Biryani and Subz Biryani are finely flavored with homemade spices and condiments. Another old classic reinvented! Not forgetting to mention the Kache Gosht or Hyderabadi Biryani which is a very popular type made with basmati rice, spices and goat or chicken.
Open for lunch and dinner, Peppermill Biryani Festival is celebrated at all Peppermill restaurants in Abu Dhabi (Al Wahda Mall and Eastern Mangrove Promenade) and Dubai (Lulu Hypermarket, Barsha).
