For the first time in the Middle East, Majid Al Futtaim and Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) brought the world-famous Alvin and the Chipmunks characters to life in celebration of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS). Opening at City Centre Mirdif, the adorable characters took to the stage performing in front of children and families.

From July 19 – 25 at City Centre Mirdif, then at Mall of the Emirates on July 27 – August 2, and City Centre Deira on August 4 – 10, the three shopping malls will run a series of activities from free live stage shows, Meet & Greet opportunities and workshops with the loved characters.

The loveable characters will take the stage at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7:30pm and 9:30pm, while the workshops and activity corners will run from 10am – 10pm.

During DSS and throughout the summer, Majid Al Futtaim’s malls in Dubai are delivering a curated schedule of fashion, entertainment and shopping experiences to suit every taste; for families and teenagers, fashion lovers and foodies, residents and visitors, there is something new, fun, engaging and rewarding to experience. Whether it is catching the latest blockbuster at the largest screen in the region at the recently opened VOX, City Centre Deira; shopping the latest mens and womenswear collection at the stunning two-floor Dolce and Gabbana boutique at Mall of the Emirates; gathering with friends and family over a meal at any of the mall’s multiple dining options; or treating the little ones to thrilling experiences at Ski Dubai, Magic Planet, Little Explorers, iFly or Vox, the malls are the destination to spend the summer months.

Throughout DSS, from July 7 until August 20, 2016 across Mall of the Emirates and City Centres Deira, Mirdif, Me’aisem and Al Shindagha, visitors will enjoy spectacular family entertainment and have the opportunity to win amazing prizes this summer. At City Centre Mirdif, from July 31 – August 4, Al Oula 107.4 radio will transmit its cultural show ‘Hayak fi Biladi” live. The show will run a daily competition asking listeners and mall visitors to find an Emirati cultural item in one of the retail stores.

Known for its incredible promotion offerings, the Dubai Summer Surprises deals are sure to catch everyone’s attention as the retail stores at the shopping malls are set to offer attractive discounts and promotions.

From July 7 – August 20, at Mall of the Emirates, one shopper will have the opportunity to win a mystery dream holiday worth AED150,000 at the ‘Spin the Globe’ stand. Shoppers also have the chance to win their cash back and shop for free daily!

While at City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif, shoppers have the opportunity to win a trip of a lifetime worth AED 10,000 to a location of their choice. Amazing travel essentials, gifted by mall retailers On time, Al Jaber Optical, Springfield, Boux Avenue, Hi-Phone and Antler, such as sunglasses, luggage, watches and more are also available to win daily. Furthermore, from August 11 – 20 visitors can win instant prizes by playing a new virtual reality game which invites participants to fly over cities collecting prizes along the way.

At City Centre Me’aisem and Al Shindagha, visitors will also have the chance to play a new digital activation and win instant prizes by participating in the virtual reality game which challenges shoppers to cross a rope bridge between two balloons flying over a ‘virtual’ Dubai.  Then from July 9 – August 20, shoppers at the community malls will have the opportunity to participate in a draw to win one of twelve premium cars (2 cars will be given away each week) in partnership with Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG).
