Cross the ‘Bridge of Surprises’ and win instant prizes at City Centre Me’aisem and City Centre Al Shindagha
Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), the longest running summer extravaganza of its kind in the region, continues to spring surprises to visitors and residents in the city with the latest being a thrilling shopping-linked challenge at City Centre Me’aisem and City Centre Al Shindagha.
‘Bridge of Surprises’ invites mall shoppers who spend AED 200 to immerse themselves in a simulated world to win instant prizes from participating stores. Using state-of-the-art technology, ‘Bridge of Surprises’ challenges players to cross a rope bridge stretched between two balloons flying over Dubai in virtual reality while walking across an actual makeshift rope bridge set up at the two malls. As the game progresses players have to catch as many logos of participating stores in bubbles falling from the sky using the hand controller. Once the player manages to collect 50 logos within 90 seconds, they are rewarded with prizes from the retailers.
Enhancing the real life experience, the rope bridge is slightly elevated creating a feeling of unbalance, while fans generate a breeze. Players in the virtual reality game, who dare to look down, can see the city’s skyscrapers to experience being hundreds of metres above the ground.
Bridge of Surprises has been created using a HTC Vive headset developed by HTC and Valve Corporation, released in April this year. The headset is designed to utilize “room scale” technology to turn a room into 3D space via sensors, with the virtual world allowing the user to navigate naturally, with the ability to walk around and use motion tracked handheld controllers to vividly manipulate objects, interact with precision, communicate and experience immersive environments.
Visitors are invited to experience the ‘Bridge of Surprises’ on weekdays from 12pm– 10pm and weekends from 12pm – 12am from July 26 – August 7, 2016.
The 19th edition of DSS, themed “Own The Summer” runs until 20 August, offering unique shopping experiences combined with rewards and world-class entertainment.
