St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: HOT), will open The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort from 1 November of this year, offering barefoot luxury to guests from the Arabian Gulf.

The Maldives is a globally-renowned holiday destination, and the Arabian Gulf has proven to be a key source market for the country, with a total of 41,976 tourist from the Middle East visiting in 2015 – Saudi Arabia sent 15,749 visitors to the Maldives in 2015, while 7,322 visitors were from UAE and 4,492 visitors were from Kuwait, according to government tourism statistics.
