Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana is pleased to announce Schalk van der Merwe as the new Director of Human Resources. An ambitious, driven and highly motivated professional with excellent communication skills will continue to be an asset to Rotana Hotel Management Corporation.
In this role, Schalk will partner with other department heads and lead and develop an HR strategy and programs for Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana, including design and implementation of organizational development programs, orientation and training programs, corporate policies and procedures, benefit plans, client service strategies and other employee and organizational initiatives.

Schalk brings a solid human resource knowledge from leading companies in various industries as well as educational institutions in South Africa. Prior to his new appointment Van der Merwe worked as a Group Human Resource Manager where he was responsible for the complete human resources function and development, after which he joined the Rotana family as an Assistant Director of Human Resources in Beach Rotana, Abu Dhabi.
In addition to holding various accreditations and certificates, Schalk received his B.A. Degree in Humanities as well as a B.A. Honours Degree in Development and Management which he passed Cum Laude from the North West University, South Africa. He also earned an Executive Diploma in Labour Relations from the Potchefstroom Business School, South Africa in 2007, after which he was invited to deliver his thesis during the annual SA Symposium for Arts and Science in South Africa.
